grand plans

August 30, 2011

I had grand plans for writing all of this week's posts over the weekend. Now it's Tuesday and I'm just sitting down to the computer for some "me" time and realized that I missed Monday's post! All of the weekend fun kept me far away from my computer and I must say it was a good thing. Time away left room for adventures, friends, relaxing and everything yummy and good without the distraction of all of my other grand plans.

There is so much left to do to prepare the Etsy shop and today I'm feeling a bit like this... via Pinterest

Sounds fantastic and scary all at the same time, right?

Plans are under way and I'm breaking off bite size pieces every week. It's a lot of work and a lot of fun, but at the same time I feel like I'm ready to get going before I'm really ready to go. I know I will get there, but getting all of these ducks of mine in a row is proving more difficult than planned.

The weekend break is exactly what I needed to spark a bit of creativity and get things back in gear. Full speed ahead!

Here kitty, kitty, kitty...

August 25, 2011

Just checking in after a few days of  busy nights and little sleep.

I'm working up a sweat getting things squared away for the Etsy shop...I hit a few roadblocks with the necessary permits, but we are getting's just going to take me a bit longer than expected.

On another beau decided to get a kitten. A few months ago he was cat sitting my little CoCo for a week or two and after I took her home he said his house felt so empty. Well...that's because my cat is AWESOME! (says every cat lover) But, the little guy that he found may be a good competitor.

Meet Rocco.

Isn't he cute!?!?!?

This new addition to our little unit has kept us up nights with pouncing and meowing, but it's hard to stay mad at such a cute little button. He's got a lot of energy, talks a ton, and has a monstrous little purr when you get him going. We are smitten with the kitten.

Anywho...with all of this kitty love going around...I've got cat stuff on the brain. A quick search on etsy and I found some new faves for all of you cat lovers out there.

Take a peek!

There is so much going on right now! Exciting and good stuff!

Smith in Seattle. Yummy Food! Great Atmosphere!
I finally got to visit Smith, a local restaurant, with my Sis, her beau, and my mom. Let me say that the atmosphere and eats at this place are especially fantastic! My picture (above) doesn't nearly capture it all, but it has a very rustic/esty-esque vibe. If you're in the comes highly recommended.

My new sewing/embroidery machine was delivered yesterday! I took it home, set it up, and tested it out by sewing a pillow cover I've been planning for months. The sewing machine works very well, but my sewing technique could use some work. Since I was focusing more on learning the machine and the scraps I was using for the back of the pillow were limited, things were a little askew and there is definitely room for improvement. Either way, the machine is fantastic and I am ready to start creating new masterpieces.

Speaking of creating...I'm opening an Etsy Shop! I have talked about this forever, but some recent events have fired me up enough to get started. Last week I applied for my Washington State business license and Seattle Business License and all seems to be going smoothly, but a little slowly, on the shop front. I plan to have two sections to my shop...

1) designs - items that I make, including jewelry, clothing and accessories.
2) per.used - items that I found, including vintage items and fixed up thrifted treasures

You can see the shop logos for each on my new Etsy tab at the top of the website. That's right! I've made a few minor changes around here to get ready. I've also adopted a new website domain... ... but you will not be lost if you have bookmarked the blogger address. This new domain will help readers and new friends to find my blog using a simple google search.

Over the next few weeks I will be busy busy - working hard on inventory, setting up a few required tracking systems, and prepping the shop - but I hope to be back here often with details and maybe a few sneak peeks. Until then, I encourage you to go out and get started on one of your dreams.

I'm Back!

How funny is it that I just got back from vacation and I have absolutely NO pictures to you show you!?!?!

What's up with that?

I carried my camera around for a few of the days, but never actually took it out to snap any photos. I know...I should be shunned from the blogosphere. I suppose I was just having way too much fun!

The weekend summary goes a little like this...

Breakfast with two lovely ladies, dinner and people watching with 3 of my funnest & funniest friends (it had been way too long), a few new movies, shopping til dropping, meal breaks with two wonderful dads (my bestie's dad and my step-dad), a visit with my bro and his fiance, and a nice long drive back with Mom (my favorite roadtrip buddy). It was busy-busy, but relaxing at the same time. Nothing like a little fun to help the soul recharge.

So here we are headed into the weekend and I have lots of exciting things brewing for next week. Can't wait to see you again on Monday! Until then...have a joyful and relaxing weekend!

To be continued...

It's vacation time!

I'm headed out of town for a few days and will have limited access to the internet. Sadly, this means that I will be taking a little hiatus from and the August Break. Have a great weekend and I will see you when I return!

August 4th - Henry

I don't know about you, but I love Henry art.

These fun and whimsical murals seem to pop up every so often here in our lovely city and honestly I can't complain. I'm always excited when I just happen to pass one.

This one in particular is on the North side of Leary as you head into Ballard. The building it graces is nothing special, but this mural of a guitar playin' unicorn...with a white dog audience...somewhere in the mountains near a babbling just...well...sweet.

Do check out Ryan 'Henry' Ward and his cast of whimsical characters. You never know where you might see him next!

And, if you're in the Seattle area and happen to have any type of blank space that needs some color, DO give him a call. It will help him to get one step closer to his goal...50 murals in different neighborhoods across Seattle. That sounds quite doable, don't you think?

August 3rd - CoCo Love

Today was a day to appreciate the connections in my life.

This morning my little CoCo Bean followed me down the stairs as usual, meowing at me and looking up as if to say "Is it time for breakfast?"

She is my shadow. Everywhere I go...she goes. Up the stairs, down the stairs, in the potty...everywhere.

Today, I went to work and nurtured a few professional bonds. Stopped by my boyfriend's work for a quick hello. Spent a long overdue dinner with a friend I haven't seen in months. Outlined a few plans for this weekend when I visit home and spend some much needed time with my best friend...which will then lead into some bonding time with my mom on a 4 hour drive back to Seattle. Now... I am curled up on the couch between my CoCo and my man with my feet up.

These connections I have every day, no matter how small they are, and those that I don't have quite often enough remind me how important and exciting they are. Connections as simple as these have the potential to renew our spirit, give us a sense of place, and show us that we are loved for who we are...always.

That's a good note for today. Even better that it came on my stress reliever tea bag.
Fitting, I think.

Hope you had a happy Tuesday!

August 1 - Sugar Pea

Today was a great start to a new month. I cleaned out a few closets, moved a few pieces of furniture, started a few art projects, did a little shopping and checked in on my little p-patch. Things are growing well - much better than last year - and we had a fresh salad with dinner, compliments of my thriving lettuce plants. I even have raspberries this year! And a few of my dahlias that were left in the ground over the winter have popped back up! Way to go dahlias!

Yup! Today was a good day. Absolutely no complaints.

Hope your August 1st was productive!
