monthly music

December 16, 2013

This week I encourage you to brew a cup of tea in your favorite mug, get cozy with some gratitude and relax into this month's mix. With all of the holiday hustle and bustle be sure to make time for a time out. You of the good ones. One of those "I'm going to pamper myself from head to toe - soak up a little ME time - do that thing that makes me feel beautifully giddy - fall madly in love with 'yours truly' - the rest of the world can wait" kind of nights. It's time to take care of yourself as we head into the new year, and it's never too soon to start.

late nights at the office

December 5, 2013

I've been spending a lot of time at the office the past few months. It's been a bit tiring but overall I have learned a lot and feel more confident in my day job abilities. Getting back to business here at I thought it would be fun to share some of the tricks that kept me balanced on those late nights.

(Speaking of balance, it's about that time to check in on 2013 intentions and start planning for 2014. How about you?)

Now, adequate sleep and relaxation time are the best solutions for keeping balanced at work, but when you find yourself stuck at the office late, here are a few tricks to stay energized and alert without crashing hard or getting too wired up. Stash these items in your "goodies" drawer (come on, I know you have one!) at your desk and you will be ready to rally.

1. A water bottle - To maintain concentration be sure to drink water! The recommended amount is 8 glasses a day (or 1oz for every 2 lbs of body weight) to maintain essential cell function and keep your energy high. I like this Glass Water Bottle by Ello.

2. Dark Chocolate - Just a few squares of dark chocolate can boost energy levels and mood. Antioxidants, vitamins, caffeine and a stimulant called theobromine make this a good for you moderation. The darker the chocolate the better for you, but I like Lindt's A Touch of Sea Salt or you could even whip up a batch of these and keep them in your purse for a quick snack any time.

3. Dried fruit - Complex carbs are good for you! They are full of fiber, which is a great source of steadily burned energy and helps to keep you fuller longer. If you are starting to get hungry, but don't want to spoil (a late) dinner, grab a handful and enjoy.

4. Socks (or a sweater) - Make yourself cozy! Why not kick off those painful heels and let your feet relax for a bit while you finish up that spreadsheet. Or snuggle up in a favorite sweater so it feels more like home.

5. Earbuds or speakers - Pop in your favorite playlist and keep yourself motivated. If you are alone - or even if you aren't - feel free to sing along!

6. Aromatherapy - Use aromatherapy lotion or oil (no candles in the office please!) to boost your energy. If you're starting to fade, perk up by dabbing a little oil on your pulse points. Lemon, orange, peppermint, clove, rosemary, or sandalwood will do the trick. Just make sure you are kind to your neighbors who may be sensitive to scent. If the oil you have isn't meant for use on skin, make a room spray by adding 40-60 drops to a small spray bottle full of water and spritz the air around you.

7. Green Tea - If you plan to be at the office late, try drinking 3 to 5 cups during the day (daily is even better!) to help you maintain steady energy levels. High concentrations of natural antioxidants are good for you all the time, so consider adding green tea to your daily routine. I like Tazo Zen Green Tea because it has a milder flavor than some other green teas I have tried.

8. Protein - A great fuel source and, like water, important for proper cellular function. If you are feeling hungry try some jerky, tuna, nuts, cottage cheese (if you have a fridge), protein bar or oatmeal to take the edge off and keep on truckin'.

9. Refresh spray or wipes - Refresh your skin after sitting in that dry office air conditioning all day long. Try Evian Mineral Water Facial Spray. And if there's no one left to impress, use make up remover wipes like Yes To Cucumbers to give your face, neck and arms a quick wake up.

10. Spirits - Wine, beer, or a Cuba may as well have some fun while you're there! Keep it limited to one drink, be sure to double check your employer's policy on alcohol at the office, and - as always - never drink and drive.

There you have it! A tried and true guide to keep yourself moving when a long day becomes longer at the office. I sincerely hope you have found adequate balance between your work life and personal life, but if duty calls now you are well prepared.

Don't work too hard.

simple joys

December 4, 2013

I'd like to deck the halls with glittering garland (1), indulge in a little spiritual guidance from my higher self (2), decorate sticks and stones with glitter and gold (3), take some time to enjoy a glass of wine kept at the ready on these guilded coasters (4) and glam it up with this druzy necklace (5). What a glamourous and mystical setting for this holiday season.

Just a few simple joys filling me with warmth and inspiration on this Wednesday morning. I hope you are having a lovely week!

December 2, 2013

Last night I dreamt of a house. A rustic rambler with large windows, wooded grounds, and muti-level nooks and wings leading to surprises around every corner. In my dream I bought the house and started to prepare for a few renovations. The beauty of the home was challenged as problems were found, but my love did not falter. It would all work out. It was my own. My home.

Pay attention to what comes to you in your dreams this week. What are these symbols telling you? Your subconscious may be craving a new inspiring space. Maybe your sense of place could use some attention? Or your heart is craving family and home connections. These gentle nudges from our sleeping mind can lead us in wonderful directions. Take a little time to make the connections and let me know what comes next for you in the comments below. I'd love to hear about what is hiding in your dreams.

I can feel something brewing. Something amazing. Maybe it is the excitement of the holidays, or a glimpse of light in the tunnel I've been trekking through. Maybe it is the coziness of winter, or the contagious nature of watching friends and family following their passions. Whatever the cause, there is glitter flowing through my veins again and I am ready to go. No matter what may be standing in your way, spend some time working at your dreams. Brew a cup of tea, blow the dust off, get settled in and get started. Never say never. Inspiration will always come back around.

hey, monday...

October 28, 2013

Today I'm thinking a lot about change. About how to release parts of ourselves and embrace new habits, lifestyles and experiences. I seem to be asking myself a lot more frequently lately, "What path am I on?" and "What comes next?" A clear sign that something...whether big or small...isn't working, or just doesn't feel right. Putting a finger on what that is exactly is always the hardest part.

This week I will spend some time bridging the life I am currently living and the life I am dreaming of. It's time for transition. In fact, I'm in the process of revamping my nutrition and this week the focus is Release. I think that makes this a perfect time for purging my closets once again, cleaning up my home and work space, and some good ol' fashion emotional "letting go". I want to feel lighter and more prepared. I want to feel set up and ready for change or inspiration...or whatever may come my way.

What is one thing you would like to release from your life this week? Here is an exercise to help you decide...Picture yourself at one side of a bridge and on the other side is the lifestyle, the career, or the relationship that you have been dreaming of. All you have to do is release the object you are holding on to and walk across. What do you feel is holding you back from taking that first step? Now, let it go.

Be outgoing. Slide outside your comfort zone and have a little bit of fun. October is the perfect month to pretend to be someone new or bring out hidden sides of your personality using the guise of a costume. hey, monday...

October 14, 2013

Oh how I have missed you! Well, not Mondays really, but definitely all of YOU. As you can see by the tardiness of this post, I'm running a little bit behind on the much-ness lately. My sincerest apologies for not visiting this space in over a month. (Seriously?!? This year is flooding by.) The past few weeks in my work life have been a struggle, but I am getting back to feeling somewhat normal again.

So...this week is about setting my stride. Determining the pace I must keep to effectively tackle day-to-day tasks while still making room for enjoying fall colors, being creative, visiting with you, and dreaming about the holidays. I've learned a lot about my preferred pace lately. Mostly during the process of learning to run again. I like to keep it slow and steady. No more sprinting. The foot does not enjoy the sprinting. The pace should be challenging but pleasant. Lately, my approach towards the everyday reflects that thought.

No more going a million miles an hour in a million different directions. It's time for focus. It's time to choose fulfilling routines and past times and make time for them and forget the rest. It's time for thoughtfulness. Instead of trying to be everything, do everything, and have everything, pick what means the most and put it into daily practice. It's time for wholeness. Seek what helps you to feel complete and find your personal pace.

September 11, 2013

Welcome to September! My favorite month. It's MY Birthday Month! I'm a little late getting this playlist out, but better late than never right!? Let the party begin.

Dare to take a little time this month and celebrate YOU! I know I will. Celebrating our unique wonderful selves should really be a regular occurrence, not just on our birthdays, but sometimes it's hard to remember that we are soooooo worth it. Set your inner critic to OFF (permanently, please!) and practice celebrating your YOU-ness this month. That way it can come more naturally throughout the year.

Here are some fun exercises you can try...

  • Make a list of all of your favorite things (smells, flavors, colors, products, feelings, to name a few) and include reasons why they are so special to you.
  • Dress up in that Feel-Like-A-Million-Bucks outfit that always begs the question "But where would I wear it?" and rock that sucker at a movie or the grocery store! Flaunt it.
  • Spend some time telling your story. How did you get to where you are today? What are your milestones? Where do you see YOU going next? Bullet points, pages in a journal, or chat with a dear choose your favorite format.
  • Take some Selfies! Practice taking photos of yourself using the timer on your camera or the cell phone stretch. Find some good light, try different angles, and celebrate how beautiful you are!
I'm going to try a few of these too. Have fun with it! Until next time, enjoy a little monthly music from my ears to yours.

hey, monday...

September 9, 2013

I'm feeling a little like this lately. A little ho-hum. A little hum-drum. A little irritable. A little unsure. My lip curled up on one side in a mix of bleh and indifference. It feels like something unbearably and irreparably stagnant from the inside, but on the outside it's just your basic run of the mill Funk. It will pass. One day soon it will pack it's bags and say "So long" until another day, but I'm growing impatient. It's time to take back control and flip the switch on my mood.

This week I will determine the best anti-funk remedy and mix up an enormous batch. An elixir brewed just for my ailment. Drink up! I will wipe the bleh off my face and track down inspiration. I will stop making excuses. Enough is enough. September is here and I'm ready to hit the reset button...or maybe the big red supercharged turbo button that says "Hold on to your hats people!"? Either way, this week is all about kicking something new and different in to gear. A new attitude. A new way of thinking. A turbo boost. We'll be right as rain by morning.

shifting into fall

August 27, 2013

Camping in the rain. Despite all the green, Fall is on its way.

Do you ever feel like you have big plans, but the Universe just isn't cooperating?

Or maybe something you are creating - with a clear vision in your mind - is not turning out picture perfect?

I've felt that way lately. A little stagnant. A little frustrated. A little bit on repeat.

A camping trip over the weekend was met with rain. My new creations for Etsy are not turning out as I had hoped. A quick look around my apartment last night revealed that after all of the recent organizing and changes, it still feels messy and cluttered.

I think perhaps I have taken on too much during these Summer months meant for slow nights and easy fun.

But the past few days I have felt myself being slowly pulled (or guided) out of this funk. I can feel my mood changing and my attitude shifting. Something is on the horizon. The rain became a humorous addition to our trip. My new designs now have a guideline for supply purchases and what NOT to do. And my apartment will get a little face lift with a new rug, new duvet, and new storage solutions. Thank goodness for the feeling of renewal as the seasons change. Fall is my favorite time of year.

So, as summer is winding down and work is about to get hectic...I've decided to start setting monthly goals instead of weekly. I'll still post a linkup tool once a month and link back to it when I muse about my weekly intentions towards that end result. The reality is, I would like to remove the "schedule" aspect and be able to move freely throughout the month as inspiration strikes. No more waiting until Tuesday each week to discuss my goals or feeling chained down to Tuesday if I'm being lazy about them.

Here is an example...say my goal for the month is to feel more vibrant, I would try to plan something each week to help move in that direction. A facial? A dance class? A new dress? Then note it here and there in my blog posts for those of you reading a long. Much more organic. Much more free and easy.

I don't know about you, but I am excited for Fall. I'll see you back here at the start of September with a new set of monthly goals and a link up tool if you are interested in joining.

Until then, have a wonderful week and enjoy the final days of the August break.

Savoring the last days of summer

August 20, 2013

Savoring the last days of summer color, but giddy for fall.

I can hardly believe we are more than half way through August. Fall is rushing this way and I'm mixed with both excitement (fall is my favorite time of year) and an unexpected hurriedness to savor every last moment of summer. I feel rushed. Under pressure. My mind is saying "pack it all in!" while my heart is saying slow down. It begs the question, how do I stay in the moment when I desire to do so much?

As the month winds down, and my desired feeling morphs from "just be" to "just do", I think it's time to revisit this year's Summer Manifesto.

The list of everything I wanted to do/try/be/enjoy this summer. Looking back at that post, it's almost as if I had a premonition about this TV hiatus thing. Checking things off the list, there are a few failed attempts (lychee cocktails and container gardening) and a few grand successes (3 picnics at the park and 2 road trips). I think I will dedicate the next few weeks to savoring a little more summer.

Here are this week's goals:
1. Literary Love. (For me: Finish the book I'm currently reading & at least 1/2 of another.)
2. Go Outside. (For me: walk my neighborhood, jog twice this week, have a picnic, go camping.)
3. Dream. (For me: While tackling goal #2, allow time to be still and listen to my surroundings.)

How are your plans laid out for the last days of summer? Are you savoring your favorite moments and making new memories? I'd love to hear more! Share a comment below, or link up to a new or recent post about your summer soirees and weekend adventures.

Until next time, keep on soaking up the sun and wear bright colors.

hey, monday...

August 19, 2013

Get creative. Sit yourself down with all that inspires you and start putting pieces together. Begin to paint your masterpiece. String together beautiful jewels. Stitch that stunning bag. Take the magical story swirling around in your mind and put it down on paper. Whatever your form of creativity may be...paint, wood, fabric, or the written word...create a little something this week just for you. The goal? Feed your creativity. Inspire yourself. Push it to the next level. Then, if you choose, share it with an interested someone so they may be inspired too.

This week, between check boxes on "The List", I will continue to piece together royal treasures. I will push myself to work on new forms of branding and packaging. I will get ready, set, go. I should have everything I need and absolutely no excuses. I just need to put in time and spirit to make the creative equation work and this week I have both. Overflowing. Excited. Ready.

weekend adventures and a handful of inspiration

August 16, 2013

A picture perfect antique shop in downtown Coupeville.

Last weekend my boyfriend and I took a little road trip across Whidbey Island. Here in the Northwest, any one of the San Juan Islands will give you an instant adventure, but the towns on Whidbey Island are some of my personal favorites. We wandered the artsy streets of Langley, took the scenic route...which is pretty much the whole island...between Freeland and Greenbank along the coastal roads, dined on fresh mussels and drank cocktails in Coupeville ("I'll have a Mango Sexy, please!") after perusing hundreds of art festival booths, and made a quick stop to take in the view at Deception Pass. It was a beautiful day and a much needed adventure.

Have you had any big (or small) adventures lately? Any big plans for the weekend? Any moments/books/places inspiring you lately?

If not, maybe you will find some inspiration in my "links for the weekend" list below.

- The crafty types go running. (Now that I am jogging again...C25K is my next big step.)
- An exciting read for those who love to plan, plan, plan, but want to feel more productive & present.
-The Light of Human Kindness will burning bright in Richmond this fall. Do you have a story to share?
- I'm dreaming of finding places like this. Where you fall in love with Mother Nature all over again.
- "What if you look stupid?" is my SGH. What's yours? Let's overcome them, shall we?
- I'm still working on my morning routine, and so re-inspired by this post. Might join the challenge too!
- Introverts take back your power."The world needs you and it needs the things you carry."
- Adding this treasure trove to my quirky US road trip list.
- I think I need to whip up a few of these summer drinks before the month is over.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Choose your own adventure.

The rain begins with a single drop.

August 14, 2013

Deception Pass.

This evening, it rained in Seattle.

Believe me when I tell you that these days, this is shocking!

After a long day at work (sunny all the while) and a much needed evening out with family, I drove through the downtown streets, window down, and just listened. Listened to the sound of the wet pavement under my tires. The gentle click and hum of the windshield wipers. The rhythmic tapping of raindrops on the roof of my car.

We needed the rain.

I needed the rain.

The rain is my reset button. The rinse cycle. The first dive into cool water.

I needed the rain.

A fresh start. Another day.

Tomorrow we make our mark on the earth all over again. Until the next time comes.

Until the next time we need a first step.

Until the next time we need the rain.

"The rain begins with a single drop." ~ Manal al-Sharif

moves in the right direction

Beautiful friends, I am sorry to say, my weekly goals post will be much shorter and sweeter this week. The last few work days have gone late into the hours and I completely flaked yesterday's post. Eeek! I would like to take a moment to get caught up and open the link tool for anyone who is looking to share a post.

To recap from last week, the overall goal for August is to create ME time and really connect with activities that bring me joy, renew my spirit, or cultivate wellness. I've been stealing ME time here and there at the office and spoiling myself with my favorite healthy treats (sea salt dark chocolate, KeVita probiotic drinks, and Indigo Morning Kashi with fresh blueberries). I went running jogging again last week, but slight knee pain kept me from pushing it to 1 mile. I'm going to keep going and work my way up to that in a few weeks, since I've never been a long distance runner.

Here are this week's goals:
1. Love Numero Uno. (For me: Set aside time daily to pamper myself, take a walk, have a cookie.)
2. Be Active. (For me: Use my Nike+ to train for a 5k.)
3. Create Sacred Space. (For me: Clean/Reorganize/Decorate my bathroom. A mini-makeover.)

How's your august break coming along? Splendidly I hope! Keep on aligning your movements with what is most important to you. Ask yourself daily if you are walking the walk or if you are stuck in talking the talk. Are you pushing yourself to take the next step? Are you savoring your favorite moments and new adventures? Are you reorganizing your approach to a goal? I'd love to hear more about the latest in your life. Share a comment below, or link up to a new or recent post...I'd love to pop over for a quick chat.

Until then, keep on moving in the right direction.

Take a moment to address any lingering fears, or perhaps play with an idea to make the leap even bigger! After all, it is all an adventure. Don't hold back.

coffee with a dear friend

August 7, 2013

Day 4: Dreamy Morning photo for August Break 2013
If we were sitting together having coffee, I would tell you about my weekend. How I spent a long summer day picnicking under the shade of a tree older than me. Dining on savory delights, sipping on a cherry mint dream and devouring words off the page. We would day dream together of another day like that spent, but infused with magic and inspiration floating on the breeze.

Day 3: Beginning of a Warrior photo for August Break 2013.
If we were sitting  together having coffee, I would tell you excitedly about milestones marked, goal setting for personal bests and the pain of tender muscles. (Muttered up and down the stairs all weekend "Ow! Ow! Ow!") How I laced up a pair of girlish wonders and overcame an obstacle that has been haunting me for far too long. We would plan our attack and become warriors together. Taking on the world one step at a time. Instilling fear in the "soles" of our shoes.

Day 2: Beauty to Create With photo for August Break 2013
If we were sitting  together having coffee, I would tell you about my next big project. How starving myself of television is leading to massive amounts of productivity. (She screams "I mean, who would have thought!?!?") How quickly I'm moving through my list of To Do's, How To's and Want To's. Settling in to a balanced life is treating me well, Dear One, and oh how I wish the same for you. We would pause to feverishly jot down notes about how to make that idea bloom and grow.

Day 5: Close Up of Creativity photo for August Break 2013
If we were sitting together having coffee, I would ask you how your weekend was, if you found your own inspiration in a slate wiped clean or the pages of a book? I would ask you what pieces of your life you would string together to make the most perfect jewel to wear? A little bit of this and that to make you feel like your authentic self daily. All you would have to do is put it on and wear it with grace and pride.

There's so much gratitude and inspiration in every cup shared with a dear friend. It's a shame we can't make more time for those moments. When our laughter is the fuel for another soul, our hearts are wide complete surrender to our authenticity, and when our cup is refilled and overflowing.

a week of mad love...and jogging

August 6, 2013

A much needed outdoor afternoon break...just me, my book, the ocean air, and a couple cookies.

I'm starting to get in the groove of August.

With the TV shut off and tunes turned on, the walls of my "uninspiration" are coming down a brick at a time. (Pretty soon I think I'll be able to topple that sucker over in one big push!) Photography is starting to flow easy again thanks to that little thing called August Break. And all of a sudden I have words. WORDS! You know, the things you put into sentences and then send out into the blogosphere? (Ok...maybe not that last part for everyone) And I sincerely hope the word-smithing lasts a while, but for now I'm excited that there seems to be a teeny tiny crack in the floodgates.

With habit kicking in full effect, a 5 mile walk/jog...which included a 1/2 mile the books, and a tidied up studio (this post brought to you live from that sacred space!), not to mention all of this creative energy building, I thought it would be a good time to set a few weekly goals.

In fact, I think it's time to embrace a new truth...

This WHOLE month is all about getting a little ME time.

Here are this week's goals:
1. Love Numero Uno. (For me: Set aside time daily to pamper myself, take a walk, have a cookie.)
2. Be Active. (For me: jog for one mile. 1/2 a mile down...and I time I'll go for 1.)
3. Create Sacred Space. (For me: Reorganize the hall closet. Donate old items. Make room for new.)

How is August treating you? Do you feel change in the air? Are you spending some time falling madly, deeply in love with YOU? I hope so. It can be something as simple as smiling at yourself in the mirror, painting your toenails a favorite shade of blue (my newest love), or curling up with that novel you've been dying to read.

A moment for YOU.

This week, take a little bit of time each day to do at least one thing - big or small - that makes you feel happy. We both know you deserve it.

Check out these goals from others around the web...

hey, monday...

August 5, 2013

The first steps are often the hardest. Then you find your groove. Habits form. And by design, the tasks and milestones become something you enjoy. You look the next step...the next mile...the next marathon. Before you know it, your journey becomes your lifestyle. Enjoy the ride.

Stop waiting for the perfect outcome to prove you have arrived. It's illusive for a reason.

This week I will keep the momentum going. I will pull through the aches and pains of first steps and continue down the path. I will balance my time between desire, fire, fuel and rest until they come second nature. Until they are as simple to do as breathing itself. All I will need to do is keep showing up. Turn myself in a forward direction. Take another first step.

August Break - Day 1 & 2

August 2, 2013

Good evening, friends!

I'm getting a little bit of a late start on the August Break lineup here on the blog, but yesterday caught me a little off guard. Thursdays are typically much more mellow at the office, but the good news is I did get A LOT of things accomplished. Working on some major organization projects for the command station (i.e.: desk).

To get caught is the photo I posted yesterday for Day 1 on the August Break 2013 flickr group and via #AugustBreak2013 on Instagram.

Seattle Love. #augustbreak2013

I snapped this shot of my city's icon just before a lunch with some dear friends up there at the top. (Pineapple Basil Gelato? Yes, please!) It was such a treat!

Today's shot is simply of what is inspiring me lately, but it just so happens to have some circle action going on. And I thought it would be fun to show you a quick peek into my latest creative project. (A new Etsy shop on the horizon perhaps?) I must admit. Lately, I'm crazy about black/gold/cream/salmon color combos like whoa.

Inspired Circles

If you are in need of a hit of inspiration, or just some eye candy to brighten your day, head on over to the August Break Flickr Board and check out some other photos being shared by the masses. Otherwise, here are some links to some other inspiring/useful things of late.
Looking forward to a weekend full of energy boosting, soul filling, creativity bursting magic. Until next time, wishing you a calm and inspiring weekend of your own.

give yourself an august break

July 30, 2013

I am filled with a mix of relief, panic and excitement at the thought of beginning a new month. Can you believe it's already August? There's been lots of changes/movements/upgrades happening around my personal space and I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a break! An August Break

For those of you who aren't familiar, August Break is a month long photo project created by Susannah Conway designed to provide a break from blogging and coming up with regular blog post ideas. I have participated in (or attempted to) for several years now (see them here) and I LOVE the boost of photography inspiration it brings. This year, the goal is to make it all the way through the month with a photo post here every weekday.

So, why relief, panic and excitement? Well...

I'm relieved because I will have something to contribute to this space every day even though I am feeling highly uninspired lately. Panic because summer is winding down quickly and there some big changes coming at work that I am not sure I am ready to tackle. Excitement because I am pledging to stop a bad habit for the whole month of August (with a foolproof way to succeed!) and I think it's going to do wonders for my creativity.

Gearing up for a month full of possibilities and inspiration...

Here are this week's goals:
1. Give up one habit. (For me: I'm kicking TV for the whole month of August.)
2. Be Active. (For me: jog for one mile. One giant leap in my foot injury recovery process.)
3. Create Sacred Space. (For me: Organize and set up my studio/creativity nook.)

How are you feeling about this next transition? Is there one thing you plan to do to make the most of this next month? It can be as simple as jogging, organizing, or even unplugging the power cord from your TV and storing at your boyfriend's house so you can't even turn it on. Simple, right?

Make the most of the month ahead. That's the funny thing about time...use it or lose it! How can you take advantage of the next 744 hours?

hey, monday...

July 29, 2013

Put the plan in motion. You've mapped it out, dreamt of the possibilities, gathered supplies, and stamped it approved. What are you waiting for? You are ready. It's time. It's time to begin the journey towards wellness, wholeness, and balance. With each step you will get smarter, faster, stronger. You will become a warrior.

This week I will make it happen. I will blend together all of the desires, plans, and directions into one combined path towards an authentic ME. I will balance my time well and take time for everything required and desired. I will become my own definition of a warrior. What does yours look like? Strong, fast, graceful, empowered? This week I invite you to define it. Design it. Be it.

the possibilities are endless...

Someone lit a fire within me this week. It's burning a little fast and out of control, so I am working to harness it in, but it's there burning none the less.

And it's about time!!!

As you may have noticed from the brevity of my last "weekly goals" post, things have been a bit busy around these parts. Overwhelming. And in those moments my instinct is to retreat. I wanted to build a cocoon and hide away.

With so much energy building and shifting, I felt pulled in too many directions at once. Like something would have to give. Every day at work was like that moment when you try and jump back on the treadmill while it's still in motion. With a big wish and held breath you start moving and pray you don't fall down and shoot half way across the room. You just keep moving.

As fast as you can.

At some point the pace slows and you find a moment of clarity. Something will give...something must change...and YOU can be the one to make it happen. It's your choice. For me, that moment came last weekend. A group of beautiful women and I got together for some eats, a few drinks, and a chat. During that much needed social night I found a spark of inspiration I desperately needed, an "A-ha!" moment, and some confidence in telling my own story.

The fire was lit.

Strange how I felt everything shift.

This week - after some meditation and assessment - it's burning a bit brighter. I have a vision.

New intentions.

When it comes to my weekly goals, everything I have put in place so far will continue in motion (I'm considering my poor performance last week a little renewal period), but now that I have a small foundation in place I think it's time to broaden my horizons.

I'm also adapting a new goal setting format this week. I'll continue to make small steps towards a different lifestyle, but I want to be more general with each intention and then decide what I can do to meet that requirement day by day. The possibilities will be endless. I invite you to take one or more of these challenges for yourself. And for some inspiration, see at least one example of what I plan to do following each intention below.

Here are this week's goals:
1. Learn something new. (For me: Start teaching myself graphic design.)
2. Be Active. (For me: 100 Squats a day and frequent walks with my pedometer!)
3. Create Sacred Space. (For me: Clear off & redecorate my coffee table.)

Is there one thing on the list you would like to have/create/accomplish yourself? I bet there is! So, what is one thing you can do this week to take a leap in that direction?

Consider this YOUR spark.

Set the intention and fan the flames.

progress...march on

July 16, 2013

Hello beautiful beings...

I just wanted to pop in really quick and say hello, post some weekly goals, and give you a little update.

I'm feeling a little drained this week, but I sense that it is some kind of "rebooting" for the next big adventure. The world feels like it is shifting around me a bit and I am curious to see what is on the horizon.

The goals have been going really well, but they are all still in progress. I'm averaging about 1-2 morning walks per week (I'd like it to be between 2 & 3), I have a big pile of clothing to donate that is still growing, and I'm walking but often forgetting to wear my pedometer (must change that!). So this week I am going to  modify the goals just slightly in favor of more progress.

Here are this week's goals:
1. Enjoy daily morning walks 2-3 times a week
2. Walk 50,000 steps (wear your pedometer!)
3. Donate clothing & furniture and continue reducing

I hope you are all doing well with your goals by either keeping the ones you have in place going or adding more when you are ready. Don't forget to check in with yourself about WHY you are working towards these things. How do you want/expect your progress to feel? Be sure to stay connected and don't lose sight of the bigger picture. For me, I want to feel connected, energized, and free.
